Water Polo

The objective

Score more goals than the opponent across four 8-minute periods.

Rules as played today

• 17 players per team (6 outfield + 1 goalkeeper)
• 2Players must tread water the entire game; they may not touch the pool bottom or sides
• 3Field players may only hold the ball with one hand; goalkeeper may use both
• 430-second shot clock resets when possession changes or a foul is committed
• 5Major fouls (targeting, exclusions) result in a player leaving the water for 20 seconds
