About this game

Ice hockey is played on an ice rink between two teams of six, using sticks to shoot a rubber puck into the opponent's net.

Score more goals than the opponent across three 20-minute periods.

Rules as played today

1Six players per team on ice: goalie, two defensemen, three forwards
2Icing: shooting the puck from behind the centre line past the opponent's goal line without a touch
3Offside: attacking player may not precede the puck into the attacking zone
4Penalty (minor 2 min, major 5 min): penalised player sits in the penalty box, team plays shorthanded
5Penalty shot awarded for foul that denies a clear scoring chance (breakaway)
