Flag football is a non-contact variant of American football where tackling is replaced by removing a flag or flag belt from the ball carrier.

Rules as played today

1Ball carrier is 'tackled' when a defender removes a flag from their belt
2Teams have 4 downs to advance 10 yards or cross midfield (depending on league rules)
3Blocking must be non-contact; hands must be kept at the body
4No running through the line of scrimmage on played designed for quarterback
5Touchdown = 6 points; PAT can be a kick, run, or pass from various distances
