About this game

Bowling (ten-pin) is a target sport where a player rolls a heavy ball down a lane to knock down 10 pins arranged in a triangular pattern.

Achieve the highest score by knocking down all pins (perfect game = 300).

Rules as played today

  • 1A game consists of 10 frames; each frame allows up to 2 rolls
  • 2Strike: all 10 pins on first roll = 10 + next 2 rolls as bonus
  • 3Spare: all remaining pins on second roll = 10 + next 1 roll as bonus
  • 410th frame: a strike or spare earns an extra roll (up to 3 rolls in final frame)
  • 5Ball must be rolled; lobbing or bouncing is a foul; foul line must not be crossed
